Children have the opportunity to experience two thematic modules. The first one is “Planet Earth” and is designed by the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) headed by Associate Professor and Associate President Asimina Antonarakou and deals with the environment, man, natural phenomena, etc. The second module is “Arithmetic of Everyday Life” and has been designed by the University of Piraeus and is led by Eleni Tsami, a member of the Faculty of Finance and Statistics, and deals with basic units of arithmetic of everyday life.

Children, through play, become aware of their natural environment and the problems related to it, acquire knowledge and experience in order to understand the environment in its entirety, form values, attitudes and feelings, as well as motivation for active participation in its improvement and protection.

Through the experience of educational play, children will develop the basic concepts of earth science as they find and evaluate the elements that will help them put the geoenvironment together. In the virtual experience, children will train and apply their knowledge of the Earth’s geological history to the properties of rocks and minerals, understand the spatial and temporal relationships between Earth processes, the hydrological cycle, etc.

Similarly, in the second thematic unit, children are asked to develop skills using digital technology in Mathematics – Arithmetic and to be able to use them in their daily life. Learning concepts such as fractions as well as pre-education through discovery and virtual reality will enable them to develop their skills in an enjoyable way that is not similar to the classroom environment.

How can you learn math by calculating the money your mother gives you for shopping and the change you have left over, combined with grandpa’s allowance for the skateboard you want to buy?
